This notice supplements the Bright Home Lights Privacy Policy and explains how Bright Home Lights processes information when you connect your Bright Home Lights account to an AI assistant or other compatible client, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Claude Code, or Codex (an “AI Client”).
Information processed by the connector
When you authorize an AI Client, Bright Home Lights may process:
- your Bright Home Lights account identifier, verified email status, granted permissions, and OAuth authorization records;
- customer-provided device names and access roles;
- device availability timestamps and customer-safe lighting state, such as power, brightness, colors, effects, and active preset;
- saved preset names and settings;
- schedules, sports-event automation settings, and supported team or event choices;
- structured command parameters that the AI Client sends after your request;
- action status, restoration timing, timestamps, and customer-safe activity summaries; and
- limited security and diagnostic information needed to authenticate requests, enforce rate limits, prevent abuse, investigate failures, and maintain service reliability.
The connector is designed not to expose private IP addresses, MAC addresses, MQTT topics, credentials, raw WLED JSON, authentication tokens, or internal service logs to the AI Client. Bright Home Lights does not intentionally request your full AI chat transcript. The AI Client may separately process your conversations, memories, voice input, or other information under that provider’s own terms and privacy policy.
How we use this information
Bright Home Lights uses connector information to:
- authenticate and scope access to devices you own or are authorized to use;
- list devices, presets, schedules, sports options, and recent AI activity;
- carry out lighting, preset, and automation requests you confirm;
- restore prior lighting after timed actions and support undo or cancellation;
- record customer-safe action history;
- protect accounts and services, enforce limits, troubleshoot errors, and improve reliability; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell AI connector data or use it for advertising.
Third-party AI Clients and service providers
When you choose to connect an AI Client, information needed to understand and fulfill your request may pass between that provider and Bright Home Lights. The AI Client provider controls its own collection, use, retention, and disclosure of conversations and other information it processes. Review the provider’s privacy policy and account settings before connecting.
Bright Home Lights also uses service providers, including Google Cloud and Firebase, to operate authentication, cloud data, messaging, monitoring, and connector infrastructure. These providers process information on our behalf as described in the main Bright Home Lights Privacy Policy.
Your choices
You choose whether to connect an AI Client and which permissions to grant. You can disconnect Bright Home Lights in the AI Client’s connected-app or plugin settings. You may also contact Bright Home Lights to request help revoking connector access or exercising applicable privacy rights.
Disconnecting stops new connector access from that client but does not automatically delete information that Bright Home Lights must retain for security, audit, legal, or service-integrity purposes. Retention depends on the type of record, whether your account remains active, and applicable legal and operational requirements.
Security
The connector uses OAuth authorization, scoped permissions, encrypted network transport, opaque resource references, rate limits, and audit records. No system is completely secure, and you are responsible for protecting your Bright Home Lights and AI Client accounts.
