Choose the shortest practical extension
Plan cable routing before mounting track. Use the shortest length that reaches cleanly while leaving enough slack for connection and service. Extension length is part of the complete electrical and data path, so there is no single maximum distance that applies to every layout.
Longer gaps and combined cable runs can contribute to voltage drop or an unstable LED data signal. If lights dim or change color toward the end of a run, review power distribution and consider a Power Injection T. If the problem is data instability across a long gap, consider an LED Data Booster. Contact BHL when planning an unusually long transition.
Connecting an xConnect extension cable
- Disconnect power before changing any connection.
- Confirm the system voltage and connector direction.
- Align the male and female xConnect ends without forcing the pins.
- Seat the connection fully and tighten the threaded collar by hand.
- Route the cable without sharp bends, pinching, or tension at either connector.
- Restore power and test the lights before permanently concealing the cable.
